Elizabeth was the daughter of Bernard Eseke, a Prussian immigrant and Sarah Spring of Massechusetts.

Elizabeth died at the home of her daughter in Omaha, NE, of pneumonia due to a weakened condition brought on by a stroke the previous week.

Elizabeth had eight children, however two died as babies and one died at the age of 16. At the time of her death, she was survived by three sons, two daughters and five grandchildren. Her husband, Alexander Stockdale, precided her in death by 19 years. He was a well-known agri-businessman in Walcott, IA along with his partner Philip Dietz.
