Richard Bradford Holmes, 91 of South Yarmouth, died Dec 14, 2007, at Thirwood Place Yarmouth Ma.
He was the husband of Gertrude M. (Willett) Holmes for 60 years. He was the loving father of Cynthia M. Chandler and her husband, Howard of Plymouth, Richard A. Holmes and his wife , Judith of Duxbury, Robert B. Holmes and his wife Stephanie of Penfield N.Y., and Kenneth B. Holmes and his wife Jennifer of Los Alamos N.M.; and the brother of Philip D. Holmes of East Falmouth. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Born, raised, and educated in Whitman, he was a graduate of Thayer Academy and attended Colby College and Babson College. Mr. Holmes served in the Yankee 26th Division of the Army during World War II.

He was employed by the Sears Roebuck Co. in Brockton for 32 years until 1978. He spent his retirement years in Inverness, FL, and Yarmouth.
He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Whitman, and the Congregational Church in Hanson. Mr. Holmes was also a member of the Puritan Lodge A.F. & A.M. East Bridgewater.
A memorial service was held Tuesday Dec. 18, at 11 AM at the First Congregational Church Yarmouth, Route 6A. Yarmouth Port. Burial followed in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, at 2:30 PM. www.hallettfuneralhome.com.
