Mrs. Ruth V. Anderson, a resident of rural Cape Girardeau County, died at 4:15 Saturday afternoon at the Jackson Boarding Home where she had resided since February. She was 80 years old.
The former Miss Casteel was born Jan. 10, 1900, at Neelys Landing, daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. Freeland Casteel. In 1918 she married Elliott Anderson, who died on Oct. 29, 1968.
For the past 15 years she had lived in the St. John's community located west of Fruitland. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church near Neelys Landing.
She is survivied by a son, Robert E. Anderson, Jackson Route 1; daughter, Mrs. Roberta R. Petty, Houston, Texas; brothers Lloyd Casteel, Jackson, and Leslie Casteel, Fredericktown; sisters, Mrs. Otis Sides, Overland, and Mrs. Mollie Felty, St. Louis; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A daughter, a brother and a sister preceded her in death.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson after 6:30 Monday night. Service will be at the funeral home at 3 Tuesday afternoon with the Rev. Johnny Clements of the New Bethel Baptist Church near Neelys Landing officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
