U.S. Congressman, Inventor. Born in Providence, Rhode Island, he moved with his parents to Rochester, New York, in 1858. There he attended the De Graff Military Institute of Rochester, founded the T. B. Dunn Company and became successful in the manufacturer of perfumes, plus invented the breath freshener Sen-Sen, forerunner of Tic-Tacs. He was president of the Rochester Chamber of Commerce, (1905-06), a member of the New York State Senate in 1907, chief commissioner for the New York Tercentennial Exposition, in 1907 and New York State Treasurer in 1908. In 1913, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-third Congress and to the next four succeeding Congresses, serving until 1923. After his term, he retired to private life until his death at age 71 in Rochester, New York.
