J.J.Shelton, seventy-seven years old and for more that thirty years a resident of Tuscola, died at his home in the east part of town Saturday morning. He had been ill for a long time. He leaves his wife and a family of eight children, the children all being grown. There are five daughters and three sons. The daughters are Mrs. William N. Morris, Mrs. Fred L. Renner and Mrs. Earnest Tackett of Tuscola, Mrs. Vena Roderick of Danville, and Miss Tressie of Washington, D.C. The sons are Bert of Galesburg, Basal of Tuscola and Clifford of Peoria. The funeral was held Monday afternoon at 2:30 from the Baptist church in Tuscola with the Rev. G.W. Stoddard of Decatur in charge of the service. Rev. Mr. Stoddard was formerly pastor of the Tuscola church. The burial was in the Tuscola cemetery.
