US Congressman. Born in Cambridge, New York, he was engaged in business in Albany, New York, when entered politic in 1851. He was a member of the Board of Aldermen of Albany for more several years, served in the New York State Assembly in 1851 and was Mayor of Albany, (1851-53, 1856-60, 1862-66). In 1871 he was elected as a Democrat to the Forty-second and Forty-third Congresses, serving until 1875. An unsuccessful canidate for reelection, he retired from public service. He died at age 81 in Albany, New York.
