Seven airmen serving from Ephrata
Army Air Base, were killed in a stall/spin/
loss of control crash of B-17F Flying Fortress
#42-30483 at Wilson Creek, Washington.

Four crew members parachuted from the
crippled aircraft before it crashed during
a training flight.

The six other crew members killed were:

2nd Lt. Warren G Smith, pilot
2nd Lt. John B Haselbeck
2nd Lt. Herbert W Rubinstein
2nd Lt. David Saltiel
2nd Lt. Frank D Tuttle
Sgt. George F Schauer
