Source: Roots Web:

He used to own the land that the Baptist Cemetery is on. That is why he is buried there. Back then, it was called Primitive Baptist Church. The information is located in the church and historical records of Powder Springs. The Primitive Baptist Church leased land from Jonathan Lindley in 1851. In 1860, the land was deeded to the church. His sons, Thomas and Elisha started the first Methodist Church there called Springville Methodist Church and the land on Marietta Street was given to the church by Elisha
Lindley. So, the land where the Powder Springs Methodist Church and the Powder Springs Baptist was all Lindley land at one time.
