David Brunner was born on Prairie Island, Goodhue County, Minnesota. He lived there for some twenty years when he moved to Ellsworth. In 1891 he was united in marriage to Miss Sophie Wilkens of Waverly. They lived on a farm for some time, later moving to Waverly, where they took charge of a hotel for six years. Then they moved back to Ellsworth. On April 14, 1913 they moved to this city, where he resided until his death. He was a member of the English Lutheran church and also of the Modern Brotherhood of America. He leaves his wife, four daughters, Mrs. Christina Johnson of Eggleston, Minn., Leona, Esther and Florence of this city, and four brothers, John of Eggleston, Minn., Peter of Hershey and Paul and Michael of Ellsworth.
