Son of David B. and Mary E. Lum.

Charles served as a Staff Sergeant, 899th Tank Destroyer Battalion, Field Artillery, U.S. Army during World War II.

After the death of his mother, he resided with his Aunt and Uncle at 334 Crosman Ter., Rochester, Monroe County, New York prior to the war. His father resided at 221 Oxford Street also in Rochester.

He enlisted in the Army on July 29, 1940, prior to the war, in Rochester, New York. He was noted as being Single, without dependents.

He "Died Of Wounds" received in action in Normandy, France during the war and was awarded the "Silver Star" and a Purple Heart.
