Sweet Home-Jerome "Shorty" Charles Jamison, 87, of Sweet Home, died Saturday in Lebanon. He had suffered from Alzheimer's disease.
Mr. Jamison was born in Humboldt County, Iowa, the son of Lyle and Mary (Scott) Jamison. He homesteaded in South Dakota, was a house mover, traveled with a carnival for a time and drove trucks. He also had owned a rock quarry in Arkansas and worked for Texaco in Nebraska.
In 1977, Mr. Jamison moved to Oregon. In Sweet Home he and his wife owned a care home for senior citizens. He especially enjoyed his family and friends.
Surviving are wife, Patricia of Sweet Home; daughters, Bertie Lou Harless and Darless Harless, both of Coos Bay, and Jane Johns of Condon; sons Ronald of Sweet Home and Leland of Fort Collins, Colo., and Jay of Leavenworth, Kans.; and stepdaughters Carol Harris of Rochester, Wash., and Beverly Fredrick and Delores Sanchez, both of Sweet Home. There are 26 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.
A brother and sister died before him. At Mr. Jamison's request, there will be no services. Poole Larsen Funeral Home of Eugene is handling arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
