Gattye was born on Jan. 23, 1933, in Collinsville, Okla., to Ira and Lea Ella (McClure) Pannell.
Gattye was a homemaker, raising her three children and helping on the farm. She also did alterations for Belk-Simpson and worked at Bee Discount and Big Smith. Gattye enjoyed sewing, crafting, quilting, gardening and spending time with her family and friends. She spent many years volunteering in the 4-H program after participating as a youth. Gattye along with her husband Lloyd served on the Jasper County Extension Council.
Gattye was a member of the First Baptist Church, of Carthage, Mo. She was also a member of the Jolly Neighbors Extension Club. She graduated from Aurora High School and attended Southwest Missouri State.
Gattye was united in marriage to Lloyd Kahl on Dec. 28, 1952, at Aurora, Mo. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include, one son, Ron Kahl (Amy), of Reeds; two daughters, Rita Peterson (Steve), of Carthage, and Gina Simmons, of Reeds; one brother, Lester Pannell, of Lebanon, Mo.; one sister, Barbara Willard, of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren, Rustin Kahl, Erika Solidum and Derek Peterson; and three great-grandchildren, Tanner Kahl, Reid and Ava Lyn Solidum. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a granddaughter, Tiffany Peterson.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 25, at the First Baptist Church, Carthage. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be in Avilla Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Weng Funeral Chapel, Jasper, Mo.
