Lillie J. Byford, 67, of Olney, died at 5:25 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 1996, at Richland Memorial Hospital.

Services will be at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney, with Rev. Burl Shinkle officiating. Burial will be in Crest Haven Cemetery near Claremont. Visitation will be two hours before services.

Memorials can be made to the Diabetes Foundation.

Byford was born Nov. 11, 1928, in Lawrence County, the daughter of Melville and Katherine (Dunlap) Helpingstine. She married Billy Byford Nov. 11, 1950.

She was retired, having worked 37 years in management at GTE.

She is survived by her husband, of Olney; two sons, Mart Byford and his wife, Konni, of Woodlawn, and William Byford and his wife, Donita, of Olney; a brother, George Helpingstine, of Bullford, Texas; two sisters, Aline Crow, of Elroy, Wis., and Dorothy Balough, of Elkhart, Ind.; and three grandchildren, Matthew, Leah and Michael.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
