The Rev. Karl E. Aurell, 87, a missionary in Japan from 1891 to 1939, died yesterday at an Arlington rest home. He lived at 4403 N. Pershing dr., Arlington.
Mr. Aurell was born in McPherson, Kans. He was ordained by the Baptist Church and went to Japan early in his career. Most of his time there was a general secretary for Japan of the interdenominational American Bible Society.
After retiring in 1939 Mr. Aurell went to live in California. He came to Arlington in 1955 to be near members of
He is survived by his wife, Anna T. Aurell; five sons, Col. Verner C. Aurell, AUX, 616 S. George Mason dr., Arlington; Alvin K., of Wilton, Conn.; Paul W. and James A. of Tokyo; and George E. Aurell of Manila, P.I. He also is survived by two daughters, Henrietta Aurell, Libertyville, Ill.; and Alice Aurell of Tokyo; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
