Mr. Shiflett was born in Floyd County, May 2, 1934, son of the late Alton Edward and Jimmye Helton Shiflett. He was an employe of Southern Bell Telephone Co., a veteran of the U. S. Navy and a member of American Legion Post 136, Lindale. He attended Lindale First Baptist Church.
Survivors are his widow, the former Lila Sills of Lindale; two sons, Brian Shiflett, Kingston and Richard Shiflett, Lindale; one sister, Mrs. Allison Treglown, Lindale; step-mother, Mrs. Frances Shiflett, Lindale; one grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Henderson Frazier Chapel with the Rev. Gerald Rogers officiating. Interment will be in East View Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Harold Green, Bob Shaffer, David Weeks, R. V. Moore, Bill Duke and Donald Bing.
