Mrs. Pearl Alice Hicks, 78, of 3614 Shawnee Road, Banner Elk, died Sunday, June 17, 2007, at her residence.
Mrs. Hicks was born May 7, 1929 in White County, Ark., a daughter of the late Samuel and Susie Ann Ward Hicks. She was a retired inspector for the Lexington Furniture Company.
Mrs. Hicks was a member of Presnell's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church in Banner Elk, and also a member of Greer's Chapel United Methodist Church in Linwood, N.C.
Mrs. Hicks is survived by one daughter, Joyce Dickens and husband, Bobby, of Banner Elk; three sons, Sammy Hicks and wife, Becky, of Linwood, N.C., Jack Hicks and wife, Carla, of Cleveland, N.C., and Jesse Hicks and wife, Regina, of High Point; and one brother, John Hicks, and wife, Porshe, of Asheboro. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a number nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan Hicks; two daughters, Susie Tencelski and Elizabeth Phillips; two sons, Gerald Hicks and Frankie Hicks; and several brothers and sisters.
Services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon, June 20, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Presnell's Chapel Primative Baptist Church. The body will lie in state at the church from 1 until 2 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. John Jackson. Burial will follow in the Hicks Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:30 until 8:30 at Hampton Funeral Service.
