George Phillip Schrader, Sr., 76, retired N & W Railway freight conductor, of Bluefield, died yesterday morning, April 8, 1954 at 5 o'clock in Bluefield Sanitarium following a brief illness.
A son of the late Samuel Crockett and Mary Jane Davis Schrader, he was born in Tazewell County on February 18, 1878.
Mr. Schrader is survived by his wife, the former Miss Sarah Baker Lytton; and four children; George P. Schrader, Jr. of Charleston, Luther H. Schrader and Margaret Schrader both of Bluefield, and Mrs. Mary Carosella of St. Petersburg Beach, Fl. ; two brothers, Dudley Schrader and Watts Schrader and two sisters, Mrs. Birdie Beayers and Miss Rosie Schrader all of Tazewell.
Mr. Schrader is a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen. He was also a member of the Lutheran Church.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 10 at 2 p.m. at Hawkins Funeral Chapel.
The Rev. Paul L Royer will officiate.
Interment will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: W.P. Allen, L.F. Adkins, C.R. Lacy, J.T. Watts, J.B. Smith, A.K. Penn, H.L. Sarver, R.P. Compton, and P.R. Smith.
Flowerbearers will be: The Ladies Auxiliary of the O.R.C. and the Mabel Bailey Binly Class of the Lutheran Church.
