Evelyn Ann Collins
Evelyn Ann Collins, 82 of Beckley, WV and formerly of Bedford went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 31, 2008, at Pinecrest Hospital in Beckley.
She was born on Saturday, Aug. 8, 1925, in Cranberry, WV, a daughter of the late Robert Roy Collins and the late Bessie Mae Crowder Collins. She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Carl Steffey Jones and her ex-husband, Bill Johnson.
She lived in Bedford for twenty-five years, first at Pinecrest Apartments and then at Runk & Pratt Nursing Home. She had resided at Pinecrest Hospital Nursing Home for the past 5 years.
She was a faithful member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, located next to Liberty High School.
Surviving is her only daughter, Lavedia Ann Johnson Stanley Jones of Bedford; her only grandson, Waymon Lewis Stanley, Roanoke; a sister-in-law, Dottie Wise Man, Roanoke; her ex-husband's wife, Betty Johnson, Beaver, WV, with whom she remained friends and was a caretaker in Beckley, WV.
Private funeral services were held Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at 3 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery. She was buried beside her son-in-law, Carl Jones.
Arrangements were being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
