"Mrs. P. Hartman, of this township, died last week. She was one of the pioneer women of the county, and a most estimable lady, loved and respected by all who knew her. She was a victim of consumption, and has long been a sufferer, but patiently waited the will of the Father. The husband and family have the sympathies of all in their great affliction."

Elizabeth traveled to Minnesota from Pennsylvania by way of Iowa in the 1840's and 1850's. She came with her parents Joseph and Susan Jemison and her sister Mary Jane and her sister's husband John Clabaugh. It appears, she left a brother David Jamison behind in PA based on DNA evidence comparing David Jamison descendents to known Jemison descendants.
Quite possibly, she and her parents came West with her sister's family due to her consumption (or tuberculosis) mentioned in her obit.
