Samuel Franklin Gillis, aged 79 years, died of pneumonia at
5 p.m. Monday, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Augustus B. Long, 312 North Fifth street. Deceased was an invalid for many years and was bedfast the last several weeks. He was a retired railroad veteran and at one time was employed by the Reading Company in this city, as a car repairer. He also worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad company for many years. His last position was with the Carpenter Steel Company in 1918. He lived in this city for more than half a century, but was born in Eaglesville, Montgomery county. Mr. Gillis was a member of Olivet Presbyterian Church. Besides his widow Agnes (Kennedy) Gillis, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Augustus B. Long; two nieces, Mrs. A. Lincoln Frame and Miss Catharine Edwards, all of this city; two grandchildren, Augustus Gillis and Louis Gillis Long.
