He was the father of Mary Ann (Hamon) Edwards, and the grandfather of Savannah (Edwards) Ramey.

According to his widow's application for a Confederate pension from the state of Arkansas, John died on Mar. 6, 1919.
From Kara Spoon: John Wesley Hamon b. 9 Dec 1844 Jackson Co. Virginia, d. 4 Apr 1919 West Virginia. husband to Elizabeth Grizzle who is buried in Black Fork Cemetery, Scott Co. Arkansas. John took his family out to see his father William Hamon and at some point they moved William to Scott Co. Ark. Where, William and Elizabeth died 2 weeks apart and are buried next to each other. William was quite old at the time of them moving from Clay Co. Missouri down to Scott Co. Ark. I can only assume they moved for logging purposes.
