Listed as, Miss Stites, which is her mother's second husband's name. No one seems to know why she ended up in New Mexico. I did find out that Myrell's sister, Susanna Martin and her husband, John Wesley White, had a son, Jacob White, who was living in Raton in 1892. She could have went there to stay with the Whites. There is also a story that she left with a William Shaw from the Galena Kansas area. There is a W. M Shaw, born in 1873 and dying the same year 1908, buried in the same cemetery as she is. Also I've heard she was married to a Hispanic man, and died in childbirth. Any theory is she was ill with a lung disease and was sent to Raton for her health. Raton is in the mountains near Santa Fe.
