We regret to announce the passing of Mr. James Rudolph Shores, age 94, of Brinson, GA who passed away Monday, June 6, 2011 at residence.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2011, at 11:00 AM at New Enterprise Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery in Iron City, GA with Rev. Talmadge Worsley officiating. Interment will follow in New Enterprise Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 8, 2011 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home. Mr. Shores was born in Iron City, GA on March 17, 1917 to the late Thomas Josiah and Elizabeth Phillips Shores. He attended New Enterprise Free Will Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years and he was a farmer. He was an Army veteran and he served four years in Europe during WWII from 1941-1945. He was in the 862nd Ordiance Battalion, he was in the Battle of the Bulge and the invasion on Normandy Beach.

He is survived by, a son, Steve Shores of Donalsonville, GA; three daughters, Joan Smith and her husband Jimmy of Iron City, GA, Marsha Toole of Brinson, GA, and Debi Gardner and her husband Steve of Bainbridge, GA; six grandchildren, Brian Smith, Lisa Fogerson, Lance Gardner, Audrey Gardner Lanier, Logan Toole, and Stephanie Shores; seven great grandchildren, Skyla Guidish, Morgan Guidish, Jakob Fogerson, Taylor Smith, Connor Smith, Mason Gardner, and Ryan Lanier; as well as numerous nieces and nephews..

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Josiah and Elizabeth Phillips Shores; his wife, Hattie Ree Everett Shores; three brothers, Paul Shores, Alton Shores, and Theo Shores; four sisters, Ollie Mae Murkison, Annie Odom, Minnie Braswell, and Addie Harlow.

Active casketbearers will be Phil Brackin, Bob Youmans, Lanny Williams, Tim Brackin, Jeffrey Grice, and Glenn Earnest. Honorary casketbearers will be Rev. Joe Murkerson, Wyatt Brackin, Eugene Hornsby, Bud Youmans, Roger Spooner, Don Spooner, Luther Spooner, J.B. Clarke, Kenneth Massey, Travis Braswell, Mosely Johnson, and Billy Spooner..
