Professional Baseball Player. Nicknamed "Deacon," he was a professional major league ball player (catcher) in the late 19th and early 20th centuries for 26 years. He set a major league record for catching in every inning of 132 games played by the Washington Nationals in 1895. He played for several teams during his career, including the Detroit Tigers in 1903 and 1912.
