Walter Sid Zachary, 68, 2924 Brown St., died early today in St., John's Medical Center after an extended illness.
A native of Livingston, Tenn., he lived here for 43 years. In 1973 he retired from Delco Remy after 30 years of service.
He was a veteran of Word War II, having served in the Army. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church and UAW 662.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Ellen (Slaven) Zachary; four sons: Walter Gene (Shirley) Zachary, Jack Zachary, Scott Zachary and Don Zachary, all of Anderson; three daughters: Mrs. Leslie (Peggy) McCord, Karen Jones and Mrs. Neil (Sharon) Allmond, all of Anderson; a brother, Otha Zachary of Anderson; five sisters: Mrs George (Peggy) Wallace, Addie Graham and Mrs. Hubert (Johnnie) Parks, all of Anderson, Mrs. (Ruth) Owens of Jamestown, Tenn., and Callie Wise of Sheridan, Ark.; 31 Grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 3 pm Tuesday in the Robert D. Loose Funeral Home with burial in East Maplewood Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 3-5 and 7-9 pm. Monday.
