Weyman Gray Sellers, of Fayetteville, passed away on January 6, 2011. He is preceded in death by his son, Gray Sellers; his parents, Thomas Clephton Sellers and Alice Gray Sellers; his sisters, Jane Bramlett and Margie Pierce; and brother, Kenyon Sellers.

He is survived by his wife, Paula Sellers; daughters, Wey (Wayne) Casper, and Donna Hatfield, all of Watkinsville; grandchildren, Paula (Mike) Truluck, Weyman (Alecia) Casper, all of Watkinsville, Misty Strickland and Amber Strickland; greatgrandchildren, Jacqueline Truluck, Lauren Gray Truluck, Le Anna Truluck, Lyla June Casper, all of Watkinsville; sisters, Doris Dellinger and Annette Shirah, both of Albany; special sister-in-law, Donna Holbrook of Monroe; many nieces and nephews.

Weyman Gray Sellers was inducted into the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame on June 5, 2010. Coach Sellers was a head football coach for 39 years at Athens High School, Jonesboro High School, Pebblebrook High School, Lithia Springs High School, Eagles Landing High School and Fayette County High School. His 39-year record was 250 wins, 112 losses, seven ties, while winning two state championships. His team was recognized by the Georgia State Senate and the State House of Representatives in 1970. Coach Sellers' knowledge of the game of football and longevity as a coach have influenced players and coaches alike, from high school playing fields, to major colleges and even the National Football League. Football greats like Fran Tarkenton remembered Coach Sellers, "He taught me the fundamentals of playing quarterback, the techniques that stood up for the rest of my career."

Funeral service held on January 8 at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Westmoreland and Rev. Glenn Stringham officiating. Burial at Westminster Memorial Gardens. Mowell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
