MRS. BRYSON - Funeral services for Rachel Estelle Asher Bryson, 86, of Bertram were January 13, 2001, at Clements-Wilcox Chapel in Burnet with Guy Jolin officiating. Burial followed at Liberty Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Bryson died January 11.

She was born May 17, 1914, in Williamson County, the daughter of L. B. and Lela Belle King Asher. She married S. S. (Bill) Bryson on January 2, 1933, in Navasota. Mrs. Bryson and her husband joined in the family ranching and farming operation in 1933.

She was a lifelong member of the Joppa Baptist Church. She was named the Burnet Honor Citizen in 1980, and was chairman of the Burnet County Historical Commission for 22 years. She was instrumental in the research and publication of the Burnet County Historical volumes I and II and the Burnet County Cemetery Records.

Mrs. Bryson was active on the Burnet County Library Board, Burnet County Historical Society, Home Demonstration Club, Lone Star Girl Scout Council and was president of the Bertram PTA.

She was a longtime member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a charter member of the Martin Wells Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas.

She is survived by her husband of Bertram; two daughters, Billie Lou and husband, E. B. Price, of Bertram, and Rachel Ann Bryson, of Hutto; one brother, Leo (Buck) Asher, of Bertram; three sisters, Mary Lou Fiegel, of Lake Travis, Margaret (Boots) Butz, of Austin, and Ruth (Pee Wee) Greer, of Conroe; a grandson and his wife, William E. (Bill) and Jena Price, of Lampasas, and grandson, Charles M. McAllister, of Austin; a granddaughter, Lela Ann McAllister, of Nacogdoches; great-grandsons, Parker Price Gregg and Bryson William Price; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Ozelle Asher.

Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home of Burnet had charge of the arrangements.
