TUPELO-Hughy Williard Coggin, 91, died Tuesday, My 24, 2011 at Courtyards Community Living Center in Fulton. He was born on Dec. 17, 1919 in Lee county to William Thomas and Ester Dupree Coggins Sullivan. He had lived most all of life in Lee County, was a retired chief engineer for the former Carnation Milk company in Tupelo, a member of the Lions Club.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II in which he was a staff sergeant with the 485 Bombardment Aquardron of the 501st Bombardment Group in the air offensive against Japan. He enjoyed gardening, workworking and flying remote controlled airplanes.

Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Nettleton with the Nettleton with the Rev. David Brooks officiating. Burial will be in New Chapel Cemetery. Survivors include 2 daughters, Arlene Langley (Melvin) of Tupelo and Cheryl Mansfield (Doug) of Ocean Springs; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one geat-great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his wfe, Dessie Thaxon Coggin; his parents; son, Larry Coggin, Sr; grandson, Joseph Allen Rebecca; great-granddaughter, Stephanie Taylor Wriston.
