Radio Personality. Born Joseph Arthur Prince in the small mining town of Dunkirk, Kansas, he was raised in the town of Pittsburg, Kansas. He went to journalism school at the University of Kansas until World War II, where he enlisted in the United States Navy, rising to Lieutenant. After the war he returned to broadcasting in Peoria, Illinois. In 1959 he left Peoria he headed south-west to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he took the position of program director of KOAT TV. From Albuquerque, he headed to Los Angeles, Califorinia and began his west coast career at KNX Radio. He then went to KABC radio and helped form the "Ken and Bob Company" which ran for over 17 years and was one of the most successful radio programs in Los Angeles (and radio) history. The show never fell below 3 and was more often than not Number 1 in the Nielson Ratings. The show also did the first live broadcast from a float in the 1988 Rose Parade. For his contributions to the "Ken and Bob Show" he was rewarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1986. He was also given an "Outstanding Achievement Award" from the United States Congress upon his retirement. Along with the countless awards from the City of Los Angeles, and charity groups that he was affiliated with. He was forced to retire on September 14, 1990 at the age of 69. He died of colon cancer at the age of 75 at his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
