Edmond's younger brother, Rev. Doctor F. Lowry, married Sally's younger sister, Jessie Mae Hatcher. Edmond was married to Ila Mae Locklear at the time of his death.

A funeral service for Rev. Edmund Lowry, 82, route 1, Rowland and the Hopewell community, who died Thursday morning at his home, were held Sunday afternoon at three o'clock.
Death came suddenly Thursday morning, after he had been in ill health for several years. He served as a teacher for 42 years in county schools. He also had held positions in the Lumbee Holiness Methodist church: Assistant secretary to the conference, conference exhorter, presiding elder. he was a trustee of Pembroke State college and at the time of his death was a member of the Union Elementary school board.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ila Mae Locklear Lowry; and eight children by a former marriage to Miss Sadie Ellen Hatcher, six daughters, Mrs. Lacy Cummings, route 1, Rowland, Mrs. Jimmy Maynor, Mrs. Carl Lowry, and Mrs. Vardell Miller, all of Pembroke, Mrs. Wilton Oxendine, route 1, Maxton, Mrs. Lather Clay, Hollister, Calif.; two sons, Auzout Lowry, Hopewell community, and Varser C. Lowry, Baltimore, Md.; three sisters, Mrs. L. H. Revels, Pembroke, Mrs. Annie Bell Spaulding, Whiteville, and Mrs. Deborah Woodell, Wilmington, Del.; three brothers, Rev. F. R. Lowry, Rev. D. F. Lowry, and B.W. Lowry, all of Pembroke; a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Officiating ministers were Rev. Belton Bullard of Sanford, former pastor of Hopewell church, of which the deceased was a life-long member; a nephew, Rev. J. R. Lowry, bishop of the Lumbee Methodist conference; Rev. Venus Brooks, pastor of the Pembroke Gospel Hall; Rev. Julian Ransome, pastor of the Hopewell church.
Pallbearers were Conrad Oxendine, Hubert Oxendine, Fred Lowry, Jason B. Lowry, Woodrow Lowry, and Delton Lowry, nephews.
Special music was provided by the Pentecostal Holinesss church of Pembroke' Miss Athelia Maynor, Mrs. Hubert Oxendine, Mrs. Inez Brayboy, and Carl C. Maynor with Miss Maitland Woodell at the piano. Mrs. Andrew Ransome played processional and recessional music.
Ushers were Alfred Oxendine, Winford Lowry, members of the Union Elementary school faculty, and Theodore Lowry, all nephews. Also assiting were C. N. and E. T. Lowry.
In charge of flowers were Miss Losha Lowry and Mrs. Marvin Carter, assisted by nieces: Mmes. Burleigh Lowry, Frank Locklear, Conley Ransome, Dora Frances Emanuel, Tommie Chavis, Henry Baker, Wilton Jacobs, Julian Ransome, Beulah Corner, Raymond Clark, William Ralph Chavis, Horace Wheeler, James R. Jacobs, Prebble L. Oxendine, Simeon Godwin, Wiley Jones, Ray Revels and Marvin Lowry, and Miss Elsie Ransome.
