OBITUARY
Funeral services for William Franklin Weed of Bigfork were held Wednesday afternoon at the Holt church, Rev. E.L. Jones officiating and burial was made in the family plot at Holt cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jack Tisdale, William Jell???, J.H. Horn, W.F. North and George Wells. Sherman and Sons were in charge of the services.

William Frank Weed was born at Wilton, Minn. November 28, 1856 and passed away at his home in Bigfork, Mont. March 5, 1933 at the age of 76 years. Mr. Weed came to this valley in 1900 and lived in Kalispell for three years. Then he moved to Bigfork where he had since made his home. At the time of his death he was managing the cafe in Bigfork.

Mr. Weed is survived by his widow, Mrs. Anna Weed, three sons, Elmer, Ernest and Earl; five daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Lessor, Mrs. Thomas (Fern) Barta, of Bigfork, Mrs. Mary Gosling of Wisc., Mrs. Margaret McGinnis Wash., and Mrs. Nellie Donahue of Calif. and one brother, Alex Weed of Bigfork.

The Eye-Opener joins the community in mourning the passing of this old and respected citizen.

At one time the town of Bigfork was known as Lumber Jack Town and the people were called "River Pigs." There were seven saloons in the town. They would run the logs down the Swan river. Frank and Anna had a long bunk house for the loggers and had family style eating. Frank and the kids would catch fish each day to serve. They called the place the Fishermans Home Restaurant. Frank also had a smoke house and could smoke about a hundred fish at a time, using Birchwood chips.

W.F. Weed came to Bigfork in 1907 and bought the John Hansen place north of town.
