Roy Green Shown was a kind and good man who had a dry wit and was a great storyteller (a Shown trait). He was also someone who loved his family and his friends. He was a man who always put a hand out to help others from plowing neighbor's fields to fixing problems for friends such as plumbing and etc. Although his presence here on earth is no longer 'seen' his impact on many lives will never forgotten.

Roy Green Shown was a retired American Tobacco fixer after 43 years employed. He lived on the formerly known "Corn Jug Creek Rd." in Reidsvile which is now known as Salem Church Rd. He was married to Elizabeth Mae Chapmon of Reidsville on March 23, 1924 in Danville, Va.
He was the brother to J. B. Shown; John Shown and half brother to Hobart 'Dobbins' Shown, Pete Sawyers , Bill Sawyers . Two half sisters whose names were Viola Sawyers Collie , wife to, Floyd Collie and Frances Sawyers Poole , wife to, Ralph Poole.

Roy Shown's father was Wesley Green Shoun who died when he was less than one year old. His mother's name was Matilda Cardwell. Roy Shown had only two children to survive to adulthood: Roy Lee Shown and Barbara Shown Perry, married to, Wade Perry. There was Mary Regina Shown who died of Diphtheria at the young age of six. (all of these children are now deceased along with the Shown "triplets" who lived one day and one of the triplets lived longer. Also, there were several single births predeceased before they were born)

Roy Shown's grandchildren that are deceased: Ronnie Perry and Richard Wesley Perry and one stillborn child of Roy and Jane Shown in 1954-55.

Roy Shown is survived by five grandchildren who range in age from 52-63 years old. {3 girls and 2 boys.} Seven grandchildren {2 girls and 3 boys) and thirteen great- grandchildren{9 girls and 4 boys} up to the year/month-Oct. 2014. As of August 01, 2013 there was his FIRST great-great grandson. What is most interesting is this boy was named the same name as one of Roy G. Shown's mother's ancestors.
