EDWARD A. ROSS, PRESIDENT OF LOCAL INDUSTRY DIES ABROAD
Edward A. Ross, president of the Ross Gear and Tool Company and the Fairfield Manufacturing Company of this city, died suddenly Thursday morning at 10:30 o'clock at Alfred House Hospital in London, England. The news of his death was a great shock to the community.
Mr. Ross was aboard ship on his way to Europe when he was stricken with an intestinal disorder. Upon his arrival in London, two emergency operations were performed in a hospital in that city. From the second of these, he did not rally.
Mrs. Brown Brockenbrough and daughter, Miss Belle Brockenbrough, who had been touring on the continent, went from Paris to London and were at the hospital in that city with Mr. Ross when he died.
PURDUE GRADUATE
Born in Lafayette December 26, 1885, he was a son of Mr. and Mrs. David Linn Ross of this city. On Feb. 18, 1914, he married Miss Louise Brockenbrough of Brookline, Mass.
Mr. Ross was graduated from Purdue University in 1907 with the degree of bachelor of science in mechanical engineering. He belonged to Beta Theta Pi fraternity and was editor-in-chief of the Purdue 1907 Debris, the senior year book.
FACTOR EXECUTIVE
He became affiliated with the Ross Gear and Tool Company after his graduation from Purdue and was for many years secretary and sales manager. In 1927, he was made president and he also developed the Fairfield Manufacturing Company of which he became president. Under his able leadership the two industries have expanded rapidly, the success of both institutions having been due in large part to his efforts.
Mr. Ross is survived by his widow; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. D.L. Ross; a brother, Linn C. Ross; and a sister, Mrs. Rochester Baird.

Edward A. Ross' funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Linn Ross, 221 South Ninth Street, with the Rev. Reese F. Thornton, of St. John's Episcopal Church officiating. Burial will be in the Ross family lot in Greenbush Cemetery. The remains arrived in the city Tuesday afternoon on the Big Four railroad from New York and London and were taken to the D.L. Ross home. In the party accompanying the remains were Mrs. Louise Ross, the widow; Mrs. Kirby Brockenbrough of Boston, Mass., her mother; Mr. and Mrs. Brown Brockenbrough and daughter, Belle; S.L. Bradley of the Ross Gear and Tool company offices in Cleveland.

Mr. Ross, who was president of the Ross Gear and Tool company and the Fairfield Manufacturing company, died suddenly recently in London, England. The pallbearers, all heads of departments in the two industries of which Mr. Ross was the executive officer, were: Ray Young, Ray Michael, Charles Deerr, O.H. Stone, R.W. Swazey, David Crouse, Harry Winn and T.J. Stickrod. Burial will be in the Ross family lot in Greenbush Cemetery.
