Park Region Echo, date June 11, 1953, page 4, column 7: Elizabeth Arken buried Wednesday at Millerfille: Rosary services for Mrs. Elizabeth Arken were held at 8 pm Tuesday evening, June 2, (1953) at the Anderson Funeral Home. Father Edward Moorslander officiating. Funeral services were held at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, at the church of Seven Dolors at Millerville. Father Adolph Schmidt officating. Pallberers were Frank Renkes, John Renkes, August Lederman, Raymond Abel, Martin Korkowski and Hubert Roers. Interment was made in the church cemetery. Mrs. Elizabeth Arken was born in Germany, October 10, 1875, the daughter of Michael and Anna Abel, and immigrated with her parents and family to America in 1881. The Abel family settled in the Millerville community where Elizabeth grew into womanhood. In 1923 she was united in marriage to Clemens Arken. They made their residence at Urbank until Mr. Arkens death in 1933. She returned to Millerville and made her home with Conrad Abel. She passed away Sunday afternoon, May 31, at Our Lady of Mercy hospital in Alexandria at the age of 77 years, 7 months, and 21 days. Surviving are four brothers: Fred Abel, Peter Abel, Nicholas Abel, and Conrad Abel, one sister, (Mary) Mrs. Joseph Cichy, all of Millerville. Also surviving are six nephews and nieces and several cousins. Her husband, and two brothers John Abel and Mike Abel, have preceded her in death.
