Corp. E. Bosworth Of Port Allegany Is Killed in Action

Corp. Eldene Bosworth of Port Allegany, brother of Mrs. Ona Crattie of East Main street and Mrs. Gertrude Devlin of Dallas City, was killed in action in Germany on April 14, according to word received Friday from the War Department. Corp. Bosworth was born in Port Allegany and spent all his life there. Before entering the service in August, 1942, he was employed by the Pittsburgh Corning Glass company of Port Allegany. After spending 30 months in various camps in this country. Corp. Bosworth was sent overseas on Mar 5 of this year. In addition to his two sisters here he is survived by his mother, four other sisters and two brothers, who are in the service. Military Rites Planned For Cpl Eldine Bosworth

PORT ALLEGANY - The body of Cpl. Eldine B. Bosworth will arrive in Port Allegany today and, under military escort, will be taken to the home of his mother, Mrs. Ina Bosworth, 26 East Vine Street. Funeral rites will be conducted by the Rev. William Swales Friday afternoon with prayer at the home at 1:30 o'clock followed by a service at the Methodist Church at 2 o'clock. Military services will be under the direction of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Burial will be in Eulalia Cemetery at Coudersport. Corporal Boswoth was born Dec. 5, 1918, was graduated from the Port Allegany High School in 1940. He was employed by the Pittsburgh Corning Corporation until his entrance in service of the army Oct. 7, 1942. He was killed in action in Germany, April 14, 1945.
