Abner Atkinson Cook, my gg-grandfather - (exact names of parents unknown at this time,) was born on 1 Aug 1811 in Hancock Co., GA. Abner married 3 times:

First, Abner married Mary Catherine Berry (1820-1844) at the age of 28 years on 14 January 1840 in Sparta, Hancock Co., GA; - by Mary Berry he had two children:
1) Nathan William Cook (1842-1862) and
2) Mary Catherine Cook (1844-1845).

After Mary died, he married Anna Elizabeth (Eliza) Coleman (1830-1856) at the age of 35 years on 23 March 1847 in Hancock Co., GA; by Anna he had two sons:
1) Thomas Abner Cook (1848-1931) and
2) John Goodwin Cook (1852-1889);

Six months after Anna died on January 14, 1856, Abner married my gg-grandmother: Emily Roper Coleman (Emily was Anna Coleman Cook's sister) (1839-1914) on July 8, 1856 in Harrison County, Texas. Abner was 44 years old. By Emily he had 2 children:
1) Behn Cook (1857-1932); and
2) William Sidney Pierce Cook (my g-grandfather) (1860-1926)

In the fall of 1854, Abner brought his family and the Coleman children from Georgia to Harrison County, Texas.

Abner died at the age of 49, sitting up in his favorite chair and had spoken before his death on 29 June 1861, in Marshall, Harrison County, Texas, "I am not afraid to die". Even though we know he is buried at the Marshall, Texas cemetery, his headstone cannot be located.

I would love to communicate with any descendants of these families and am always desperately looking for pictures.
