ALEXANDRIA - A memorial service for Wilfred E. Allen, 78, will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Hueston-Whetsel Funeral Home. Cremation will follow.
Mr. Allen was born in Fowlerton and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He owned and operated Earl Allen and Son Insurance and Real Estate before retiring. He was a founding member of the Summitville Fire Dept., a former business manager of the Indiana State Senate, a former Chief Door Keeper for the Indiana House of Representatives, a member of the First Christian Church of Summitville, a 50-year member of the Summitville Lodge of F&AM 691, a member of the Scottish Rite of Indianapolis, Murat Shrine in Anderson, American Legion Post 87, Eagles Lodge 1771, and served as precinct committeeman for the Democratic Party.
Survivors include a son, John Allen (wife: Lisa); three daughters, Eloise Godwin (husband: Steve), and Emily Allen (husband: Charles); five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; a great-grandchild, and two step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Donnabelle Arnold Allen; a daughter; a brother, and a sister.
Calling will be 2-4 p.m. today in Huetson-Whesel Funeral Home.
