Funeral for Alfonso B. Markham, 94, of 902 Canal St. NE will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Boling and the Rev. William Stephenson officiating.

Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery with Brown Service Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7 at the funeral home.

Mr. Markham died Tuesday at Decatur General Hospital. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Julian Harris Bible Class. He was a veteran of World War I, a member of American Legion Post No. 15 and a member of the Elks Lodge. He was a postal worker retired after 41 years.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma Markham; two sons, Kenneth Morgan Markham of Attapulgus, Ga and John Robert Markham of Fort Walton Beach, Fla; one daughter, Ruth French of Atlanta; one sister, Alda Stuberfield of Fayetteville, Tenn; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Morgan Markham Jr, John Robert Markham Jr, Alfonso Blake Markham, Kenneth Deruelle, David Deruelle and Rick Kepler.
