LINCOLN - Mary Lorraine Fue Wendell passed away Monday (Sept. 11, 2006) at Springfield Memorial Medical Center.
She was born May 14, 1920, in Lincoln, daughter of Harold and Lenna Williams Fue. She married Norman Paulus Wendell on June 23, 1940. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman; one brother, Merlin Fue; and her son, Mark Timothy Wendell.
Lorraine graduated from Lincoln Community High School, Lincoln Business College and Lincoln College. She taught in a rural Logan County school until she became a full-time homemaker.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Rachel Circle, Lincoln Woman's Club, charter member of the Logan County Women's Extension Service, a Cub Scout den mother, member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority since 1946 and several bridge clubs.
Survivors include her brother, Harold (Bettye) Fue, Santa Barbara, Calif.; and daughter-in-law, Sheryl Wendell, and grandchildren, Clay and Cori Wendell, New Holland.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, 127 S. Logan St., Lincoln. Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, followed by burial at New Union Cemetery in Lincoln.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Lincoln Christian Village Nursing Home, First United Methodist Church or to the scholarship fund for Lincoln College.
