George was born in Austin just before the Civil War. The 1860 census was taken August 7 and has George as one month old but should have been Two months old, which would have him born around the first of May. The death certificate has his birth as the 6th of December 1860, which can not be right. George grew up just a few blocks from the Capital on Pine St. or 5th Street as it is called now. George is shot in the chest by Bob Lotterdale on 13 Sep 1883 over Anna Hamilton a lady they were both courting.On 10 Dec 1885 the lock on the back door of the old jail is sawed off, George charged with misdemeanor (fighting)and 13 others walked out the back door.He worked with his father and brother John at Sharp Painting and Paperhangers. George is working as a painter on the capitol building in 1888. In 1891 married Ella A. Worley ( Helen Clark ) They had a son William Edward Sharp born in 1891. George married Ida Martin and James Reily Sharp was born in 1898, Austin. In 1910 census they are living in Dallas,Tx. 17 Oct 1901 George is fined $5 for fighting. 1 Aug 1903 George and several Texans left Austin,Tx on the ship Cranly with 715 mules bound for British South Africa. Delivering the mules at Delagoa Bay for the British Army they were put off the ship not payed and stranded. Reaching London their passage was payed by a group of nice people back to Austin 10 Dec 1903.George may have been a witness to the murder of Emma Adams first husband Walter Lingo on 4th street in Austin in 1909. George married Emma Adams in 1910. George died of pneumonia in Dec 1910,four months before his son Charley Martin Sharp was born.
