Virginia "Ginger" Ann Sellers Hill, age 76, of Killen, passed away Tuesday,
April 22, 2008 at ECM Hospital after an extended illness. Her family is comforted to know she is sick no more and resting in the arms of her Lord Jesus.
The funeral service for Virginia will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2008, at
Killen Church of Christ. Burial will follow in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. Stan
Dean will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church from noon-2
p.m. before the service.
Ginger was born in Jefferson County on Aug. 1, 1931, to her late parents, Lois and Levertt Sellers. Virginia was the middle child and the only girl of three children. She was a graduate of Corner High School.
Ginger met her sweetheart, Harlon, at Florence State University, where she received her Master's degree.
She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandson, and
was affectionately called "Ginger." She was a loving daughter, sister, wife,
mother and "Ginger." She had many hobbies; some of these were traveling with
family and friends, gardening, cooking, collecting pretty china, shopping, and
she loved purses of all kinds, but her greatest love was spending time with her
family. She always looked forward to family gatherings every Sunday. She was a
retired educator from the Lauderdale County School System after 28 years. During
her teaching career, she taught at Lauderdale County High School, Bradshaw,
Brooks and Lexington. Virginia was a devoted Christian and a longtime, faithful
member of Killen Church of Christ who enjoyed reading her Bible. Virginia was a
very happy person and had a beautiful smile on her face every time you saw her.
She was known for her great sense of humor.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Billy Sellers and Dave
Sellers; and nephew, Brett Sellers.
She leaves her loving husband of 55 years, Harlon J. Hill, Killen; daughters,
Gwen Springer (Dallas), Killen, Jackie Smith, Killen, Janet Phillips, Killen,
Teresa Robertson (Danny), Killen; son, Jerry Hill (Beth), Killen; grandchildren,
Russell Springer (Jennifer), Erica Springer, Emily Phillips, Drew Phillips,
Austin Hill, Taylor Robertson and Haley Ann Robertson; great-grandson, Carson Springer. She also leaves behind four sisters-in-law, Marsue Harraway, Dorothy
Alexander, Joyce Sellers, Faye Sellers; brothers-in-law, Doyle Hill, T.B.
Harraway, Junior Alexander; one aunt, Margie Howard; nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Billy Ray Hill, Ricky Haraway, Russ Springer, Drew Phillips,
Austin Hill and Taylor Robertson.
The Hill family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Drs. Felix
Morris, Robert Webb, John Scarborough, Danny Martin and the late Dr. John T.
