Lula Holmes

SPRINGFIELD — A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, at Terrace Heights Memorial Park in Yakima, Wash., for Lula Mae Ransier Holmes of Springfield, who died May 1 of age-­related causes. She was 103.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. today at Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene.

She was born Feb. 28, 1908, in Bickleton, Wash., to Thadius and Mary Thane Ransier. She married LeRoy Holmes on Feb. 28, 1932, in Grandview, Wash. He died Dec. 8, 1994.

She graduated from Grandview High School in 1928. She worked as a frozen-food packer for 17 years for the Twin Cities Frozen Food plant in Ellensburg, Wash. She retired in 1973. Also, she was a homemaker.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Evans of Springfield; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A son, Gary Leonard Holmes, died previously.

Remembrances to the Alzheimer's Association.
