U.S. Congressman. Moving with his parents to Missouri in 1899, he graduated from Graceland Academy Iowa, in 1916 and served as a Sergeant in Company F, Student Training Corps, U.S. Army, during World War I. After the war, he graduated from Iowa State University, in 1920, from the University of Missouri, in 1926 and taught in the high school at St. Joseph, Missouri. In 1929, he was elected as a Republican to both the Seventieth and Seventy-first Congresses to fill the vacancies caused by the death of Charles L. Faust and reelected to the Seventy-second Congress, serving until 1933. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he engaged in the insurance business and was a member of St. Joseph Board of Education, (1937-67).
