Wm. A. Brennan, brilliant, learned and scholarly was a civil engineer, medical research writer, linguist, translator and artist. His mother died when he was only 7, and he is said to have left home at an early age because of his stepmother. He entered the Cork branch of the Royal University of Ireland in 1885, had a wife and 3 children by 1890, when he got his B.A. (Mathematics, Mathematical Physics and Experimental Physics). With the Corp of Royal Engineers (English Army in Ireland) for many years, rather than be transferred to Australia he moved to Canada (Moose Jaw, 1905) and then to Chicago (May 1906), where he was with John Crerar Library and Abbott Laboratories. Retired to California "to paint the mountains" and died there.

Married: 5 February 1887, Catholic Cathedral of Cork, Cork, IRELAND. [Cathedral of St. Mary and St. Anne]
Witnesses: Andrew HENLEY and Mary Anne BRENNAN
