U.S. Congressman. Educated at Lee University Virginia, he returned to his home state Florida and engaged in agricultural pursuits. He was a delegate to the Democratic State convention in 1888 and a member of the Florida State House of Representatives, (1891, 95, 97). In 1909, he was elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-first and Sixty-second Congresses, serving until 1913. An unsuccessful candidate for re-nomination, he resumed his agricultural pursuits until his death.
