RICHARDSON—Services for Raymond McClain Akin of Richardson are set for 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Restland Wildwood Chapel. Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in the New Hope Cemetery in Gainesville.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
Mr. Akin died Sept. 10, 1997, at his home after a long battle with illness.
He was born Sept. 16, 1907, near Akin, Ill., to Demetrus and Julia Griffin Akin. He was a graduate of the University of Southern Illinois and Southern Methodist University. He taught biology and coached tennis in the Highland Park High School for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Archie (Maurine) (Henry) Akin; twin brother, Daymond Akin; four nephews; and three nieces.
