Katie A. Hankins, 100, of Ironton died Saturday at River Valley Health System. The Lawrence County native was born July 19, 1900. The daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth McDonald Rucker. She was the wife of the late Arnold Chester Hankins. She was a lifetime member of Sugar Creek Missionary Baptist Church, as well as the oldest member there. She lived all her life in Lawrence County and attended Etna School. Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Mina and Norman McComas and Kathleen Clark of Ironton; eight grandchildren;14 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren. She alo was preceded in death by six sisters, Pearl Haynes, Minnie Rucker, Iva McKnight, Eva Bishop, Alice Delawder and Nannie Rucker; and one son, Orin Hankins. Funeral at 1 p.m. Sugar Creek Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Hankins and Warren Comer officiating. Burial in Sugar Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Millard Harris, Bob Hankins, Dennis Hankins, David Hankins, Joe Hankins and Dwayne Riggle.
