Mrs. Marjorie Merle Alexander, age 80 of Crockett, formerly of Bedias, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2008 in the Community Care Center in Crockett. Mrs. Alexander was born February 19, 1927 in Bedias, Texas and she had lived most all of her lifetime in Bedias, until moving to Crockett. Mrs. Alexander was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church Restoration Society in Bedias. Mrs. Alexander was a housewife and also a former member of the Jones Road Baptist Church in Houston. Survivors include her sons Thomas Wayne Atkins and wife Margaret, and Howard Atkins and wife Delores, all of Houston; 18 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Jo Merle Shiflet, of Crockett. Preceded in death by husband Otis Alexander in 1995; parents Albert Dewey Shiflet and Rosie M. Trammell Shiflet; brother Harroll Shiflet; stepsons Ray Alexander and Johnny Alexander. Funeral Services for Mrs. Marjorie Merle Alexander were held Friday, February 8, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Gerald Brown officiating.
