Lounell Stephens, 76, of Tifton, died Friday, April 22, 2011 at Southern Senior Retirement Center in Adel. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Dr. Danny V. Ray, the Rev. Smith Gentry and the Rev. Bill Hamilton will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Monday at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Coy Tawzer, Charles Marshall, Chris Stephens, David Ray, Daniel Ray and Todd Griffin will serve as pallbearers. Deacons of Wayside Baptist Church and Glenn McBrayer will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mrs. Stephens was born on Feb. 17, 1935 in Cook County. She was the daughter of Leroy Buford Shiflett and Maggie Bickers Shiflett, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by a son, Johnnie Stephens Jr., and a daughter, Linda Ann Stephens. She was a member of Wayside Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Kenny and Vickie Stephens of Tifton; a daughter-in-law, Linda B. Stephens; a sister, Betty S. Ray of Tifton; three grandchildren, Ken and Michelle Stephens, Kelli Jo Stephens and Ethan Stephens; and one great-grandson, Kaleb Stephens.
