DAVENPORT -- Private family services for Lenard E. "Len" Bruckmann, 83, Davenport, will be held at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. According to Len's wishes, no visitation will be held. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park.
Mr. Bruckmann died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport.
Len worked more than 27 years at the downtown Davenport Post Office. He retired in the late 1970s. He thoroughly enjoyed playing his string bass with several local "Big Bands," including the Tiny Hill Band, Licata Brothers Trio and Hal Wiese Band.
Lenard Elwood Bruckmann was born May 26, 1918, in Long Grove, Iowa, to Frederick and Lillis (Kerr) Bruckmann. On April 14, 1947, Len was united in marriage to Alda Sharp in Milan, Ill.
He was a member of Davenport Moose Lodge 28, Davenport Elks Lodge 298, Davenport American Legion Post 26, American Federation of Musicians and American Postal Workers Union.
Survivors include his wife, Alda "Tootie"; daughter and son-in-law, Lynette and Ronald Henzen, Davenport; sons and daughters-in-law, Fred "Fritz" and Cindy Bruckmann, Sherrard, Ill., and Harold and Karen Schaffer, Davenport; five grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death his parents; a daughter, Dawn Bruckmann; three brothers; and a sister.
